Rhymes of the Heart

Not Only For The Hero

There's a flag neatly folded,
that hangs on my wall.
It was draped on a coffin,
when God made a call.

It was his last tour of duty,
then he was coming home.
But a message arrived,
that left me all alone.

A twenty one gun salute,
taps played in the background.
As I staired at the flag,
so many people all around.

They say he was a Hero,
I know this is true.
He fought for our Country,
the red, white and blue.

Now look closly at the flag,
its tear stained you'll see.
Not only for the Hero,
but for the man who loved Me.
