A Windy Day At School
My class of tiny terrors,
swirled fiercely with the leaves,
and whipped into a frenzy,
increasing laughter, strong.
They screamed above the blowing,
as if to compete, and flung their
little arms and legs, into the
warming wind.
Dirt and twigs and litter,
circled round their tousled heads,
as these tiny little terrors,
jumped and clapped with zing.
I stood and watched this movement,
as if mesmerized, and wondered
why, on windy days, my tiny ones,
turn into ecstatic devils!
Joy Weare.
27th October, 2004.
