Retreat

I've written about my special place
Beneath my singing trees
Close my eyes and I'm back there
Any to time I please
But in this modern life of mine
With so much to do
I have another almost special place,
Sitting in the loo.
I can take my paper with me there
Or even read a book.
Folk my wonder where I am but that's
One place they'll never look.
It's a reliable place of silent retreat
When a day is getting rough
But pins and needles is a reliable sign
I've been there long enough.
Then when the paper work is finished
I know I'm nearly ready to face
The pleasures and the strains
Back in the human race.
