Poetic Verses
Alone
Waiting for light to cross my eyelids;
I lay just short of slumber
The only sound -
my own heart beat against the sheets
in accompaniment to the breath I take
Motionless -
yet, mind awakened
Prickly impulses in hands and feet
the only clue that I am more than thought
Though the only movement is -
of mind
Lost in a maze of confusion
Not knowing whether senses or emotions are real
I slowly open my eyes to faintness of light
not wanting to see
that
I am -
Alone
