A Young man kisses his love goodbye,
It's time to go,
He leaves with a tear in his eye.
Who ever said a grown man can't cry?
He reaches a foreign shore,
With uncertainty,
He doesn't know the out come,
But he knows it won't be easy.
Some of them will surely die.
Who ever said a grown man can't cry?
He takes his first step on foreign soil,
He picks up his gun
To fight a soldier's toil.
He'll do his best to help his flag fly.
Who ever said grown men can't cry?
He starts to march a soldier's march.
He carries with him liberty's torch.
He doesn't want to fight a war,
He can't lie.
He just knows what he is fighting for,
And he knows some will die.
Who ever said a grown man can't cry.
A soldier is so far from home.
He stands on foreign soil.
Sometime he feels his hope is gone
His heart is in turmoil,
As he tries to make it until tomorrow.
He marches through the sorrow,
Watching others die.
Who ever said a grown man can't cry.
