The Price is High-Freedom's Price
A tribute to Soldiers
I heard the veteran say ‘I fought in Saigon,
But I didn't fight alone‘.
‘He said I lost my leg and my friend is gone.'
‘He said we fought hard, and some had to die.'
The price is high for this flag to fly.
Another veteran said, 'I was there by his side.
And I lost my eye'.
The price is high for this flag to fly.
I heard a veteran tell me he lost his arms,
And with tears he said I lost my son in Desert Storms.
He said his son didn't come home
And than he started to cry.
The price is high for this flag to fly.
I saw a grown man cry,
There was Bosnia and my friends and I,
Fought until some had to die.
The price is high for this flag to fly.
A young girl said with a tear in her eye.
My brother went to Kuwait, as I told him goodbye,
He said if dying is my fate, than I must die.
The price is high for this flag to die.
I watched my love go as he looked back,
He said goodbye I have to go to Iraq.
I don't know if he's coming back.
The price is high for this flag to fly.
