Heart Of The Matter

Loved And Lost

Although I've loved and lost in love,
With pain so bittersweet,
I now know what I'm looking for,
If perchance I get to meet.

It's something indescribable,
A gift from God above,
Its heady, all consuming,
This feeling they call love.

There's so much that you want to say,
It leaves you lost for words,
He's on your mind both night and day,
And really, it's absurd.

You lived your life without him,
Those days before you met,
Yet somehow with the knowing,
Comes a love you can't forget.

And now and then the memory,
The feelings you recall ……..
So it's better to have loved and lost,
Than never loved at all.
