The Last Snowflake

I trace a heart in a frosted window
Looking out to a world covered in snow
Everywhere I see signs of Christmas cheer
But in my stocking, Santa placed a tear

The star on the tree has lost it's shine
Symbolic of how hope can be at times
It may flicker but it shall not fade
Kept softly glowing by promises made

There are no sugarplums in our heads
Just dreams of love that could be instead
No peeks of a sleigh or tiny reindeer
Seems the Christmas spirit just isn't here

There are no presents beneath the tree
Apart from the wish made for you and me
No tinsel or mistletoe hung in the halls
Just another tear...as the last snowflake falls
