Climb the highest mountain, punch the face of god

The Directions of Life are Hard to Follow

We are all out to get out
Instant gratification.
We scramble like rats in a maze,
Hoping to get to that special something
Which makes us happy.

And we step on so many people
To get to what we want.
We blacken people with out fiery rage,
If they are not about to help us.
We char them with heated words
Spoken at the wrong moment.

And we care not when they hurt.
We put the pen to the paper
And sign away our beings on
Some check, some government check
To receive dirty money because
We've been led to believe
That this is all we yearn for out of life.

When you've made someone cry,
Do you get filled to the brim with disgust
For your crude actions,
For your demeaning demeanor?
Where will those crying people get their
Meager restitutions now that you've conned them out of it?
Where will they get their apologies?

Like the sun breaking through the fog,
We've broken through to our dreams,
While breaking promises to insignificant others'.
We've raced to the finishing line,
Cheating most of the way there and
Believe you followed every rule, did everything right,
Obeyed the correct laws,
Because they have led you to believe so.

*If you think that this is about the government, or some aspect of the government well, you're right.
