 Words Of Love

wordsoflove
Moonlit Shadows

We sat there we two
and repeated the nightmare
No longer children
But kids this time.
Fury flashed through your eyes
as the moon reflected from the black blue
As the wind blew
wisps of my hair stuck to dampened cheeks
He watched us from the porch,
as we talked under the tree
Shadows were all he could see
You were angry, and I- I was too
You were sad, and I- I cried
Why again? I said struggling to understand
You didn't respond- You didn't know either.
We weren't 7 and 5
just 15 and 13 tonight
"I wanna break his sick fingers!"
you stammered through clenched teeth.
As your voice cracked at your young ripe age
Just kids- all we could do was cry
Cry about the man we trusted
