Brain Storm…Battered and abused and messed about, This poor brain of mine, It's always got a problem, And it's a nasty one all the time! Wow, I had a tumour, Upon me poor old brain, Then I got another, And I've never been the same! I knew that I had brain matter, Ad for sure I've seen the light, There was me brain on the screen, Al dark and bits of white! ‘Oh my God,' goes up the cry, ‘Look, she's got a brain!' But could they fix it you ask, Cs if not it be such a shame! So off went the head, oh dear, Well I meant the tumour, And what a shock, look what it did, It gave me a sense of humour! Then after it was over, A few weeks slipped on by, And then one bright sunny day…! You could hear me cry! A hole, there was a hole in my head! Like a crater deep and wide, What a shock, I went quite sick! I cried, and cried and cried… On my return to the hospital, we asked; ‘Why is there no plate?' There was no protection, only skin, And my future, what was my fate? ‘We put plates in for men! Things can fall on their head,' ‘When they are in work… And they would end up dead!' And me…what about me! Being as I'm not a man! It's ok for me to have brain damage? Cos it can happen, it can! So therein lie's a gaping hole, Just skin covering the brain, And now, what a surprise, here I am… With negligence once again! So as through life I tarry, Careful to protect this brain, And hoping no-one will hit it, And end up in hospital once again A hole, yep, it's what it seems, A ruddy big hole in my head, One knock, one hit one error! And this person here is dead! Do I crawl into the background? Cocoon myself in cotton wool! Give up on life, ease up on strife, And live a life dismal and dull? NO! I don't, I move on, I deal with the crap in my life, No wimp, no mouse, no fool, I'm used to struggle and strife! Why am I this way you wonder! Well now what can I say? I'm this way cos I want to live, So I fight to survive every day! And survive I do and always will, You'll never see me break, I will prevail I will survive, For my life here is all at stake! A hole in my head, so what! I just make sure it's safe and sound, Never knock it, bash or cut it, And for a long time I'll be around! Do I sit and worry and ponder? On my tales of woe and strife! Absolutely not at all...! I'm just getting on with my life! Life is what we make it! We make it the best that we can, So take stock, step back and think… And succeed just as I am! Life is never easy, Who the hell said it was so? It sure the hell wasn't me - trust me! I'm one who'll know! I've a hole in my head, And people left me - who couldn't cope, Well it's their loss, it really is! And I'll deal with - I hope! Friends don't leave you! They stay the test of time at your side, So if they walk away from you, Don't let it dent your pride! For we are worth more than that, A nonentity we are not! We're something, something good! We are strong, no matter what They walked out of my life, But I didn't let it faze me, I am the stronger, I prevailed, And I'm alive as you can see! Strength, stamina, determination, Always to the fore, Anything less is a crime… There's no negativity any more! So the moral of this poem is… Stand firm, true and strong, Never say never, its do or die! For giving up it totally wrong! So no matter what your health, No matter the strife and pain, Always remember, no matter what, You fight, again, and again!!! Never Say Never, Never Give In!!!
