A time of laughter
awaits my eyes
In corners
I have yet to see
With tears of joy
and silent cries
What wonder
awaits for me.
Every day is a puzzle
with each moment a treat
For the newness
surrounds my soul
Giving me pleasure
in all sights and sound
Soothing the rawness
making me whole.
I count the raindrops
falling upon my head
Washing my worries away
instead of making me dead
Bringing back the memories
of where I use to play
Allowing me to grow
to discover a new day.
Signs of maturity
grow stronger as we live
Resentment for the young
the trail they blaze in our stead
For we all feel time
that slips by each day
Seeing the darkness gather
of the ending of our ways.
Yet starlight shines
on evenings end
When cloud
close the eyes of the sky
Sunshine rises each morning
waking with a smile grown high
Light linger
at every corner
Where darkness
holds its sway
All that is needed
for light to triumph
Is to open each window
so tolerance is displayed.
Then a sword of daylight
will ride my hip
To battle the darkness
that tears life into bits
Severing the world
that would fray and rip
If tolerance was not measured
given freely to all to equip.
