A Shepherd DiscipleI Peter 5:1-4 I am myself in one as a poet for the church, And a witness to Jesus Christ that I search; Having my part in the coming of the glory, As I request of you for preaching the story; Keep watch over the flock within your care, Authority not forced rather glad to share; Not for filthy profit but with a ready mind, For the deaf to hear and sight to the blind; Not to be lords over the heritage of God, But as an example rather than as a fraud; As the chief shepherd of the sheep arrives, An eternal crown of glory rewarding lives. As Disciples of Christ makes us shepherds, And the Holy Scriptures as the stewards; Being stewards for preaching to the flock, Demonstrating to them a right way to walk; Showing the love and peace in your heart, Confessing to God your faults to impart; Not overwhelmed with strife to struggle, Rather a shepherd disciple to be a model.
