The Hiss Of Nature!

The noise and the hectic,
have died down to dull,
I sit in the debris
and feel quietly sad.
The laughter and lightness,
lingers so short, it's gone
in a whisper and becomes
history so soon!

I'm glad for the laughter,
but sad for the pain,
of parting and waving and
saying goodbye!

Then I turn on the TV
and pain gushes so strong!
Yesterday's kiss of nature
has turned into today's
hissing song!

The earth, all a heaving
and drowning and cruel,
has snapped all the laughter,
the joy and the love!

People are weeping in panic
and pain, wet with the ocean,
and homeless and lost!

I sit in my debris
and feel guilty and sad.

My goodbye's are nothing
compared with all this!!

Joy Weare.
28th December, 2004.

As I write, 24,000  have lost
their lives in the Asian tsunami!
