A MERE COWARD (That's How I Am)

We fought hard on the phone and hurt you real bad,
I blew it big time and my foolish pride stood in;
I wanted you to perceive that I'm not affected in anyway,
So I never gave you a ring nor e-mailed you back.

Then I got a call yesterday I never anticipated,
It was you whose voice cracked down on the other end;
I was happy on the inside to hear your voice again,
But I let the chance slipped away and then let you go.

I never told you how sorry I am, my love,
I should have apologized and make it up to you;
I am so chicken-livered to ask you for another shot,
I just hope that you're doing alright and are moving on.
