For a friend.

A lone path leaves
Just one set of footprints
Loneliness is felt deep
and salvation seems distant.

In such times we forget
The fondness of friends
For we fight alone
Till one way or other it ends.

Denying the ability to cope
Bears the price of pride
Till a hand takes in mine
To at last open my eyes.

A light I see casts no shadow
For nothing dulls this spirit
I embrace this aged soul
For I trust who envelops it.
