The Tree House Retreat
Climbing up a homemade ladder
Rickety, but it will do,
I made my escape from madness
Like none else I've found will do!
For there among the big branches
A Get-away made for one,
Is a rough-hewn,sturdy tree house
For kid's business and for fun.
At times it's my private space ship
Blasting off to worlds unknown,
Hosting my imagination
which takes me so far from home.
Other times it is my hideout--
A place of security,
Away from the troubles of life
It's locked door knows but one key!
I know it doesn't look like much
'Specially from there on the ground,
But it's the simple things in life
That bring the most Joy, I've found.
It's just a few yards from the house
But it's far enough to find,
Retreat to peace and solitude
For elsewhere, it is not mine!
No, I don't seek a hermit's life
I know I need others,too,
It helps me see thing differently
When allowed my Tree House view.
This Tree House is a life saver
Trusting you, I tell you this,
So please don't betray my secret
(Please don't tell the Wife and kids!)
