Nurturing of Horizons
How do we inspire
the children in our world
By giving them words of hope
or impossible things that are surreal?
Do we show them lighted passage ways
or allies dark and rank
Do we start them with a blank account
or teach them to rob those banks?
Some show them miracles
of which is natures way
The opening of an oyster
inside a pearl is contained.
Or maybe the beauty of Nature
or the stars far over head
Teaching them to grasp the marvels
Before they go off to bed.
We love them with words
and a gentle hand to touch
We love them with striking force
but in life we must always judge.
We let them grow in company
for guidance they will need
Sometimes they will teach us
and that you can believe.
For the encouraged mind is athletic
it can circle around the moon
It can travel to far off galaxies
arriving back before noon.
It can write a sonnet to the Gods
watching them past them by
For they are imagination
and there is nothing they won't try.
For all things are possible
If we have the hope to succeed
Watching and heaping praise upon
each attempted and righteous deed.
So open paths with words of wonder
Paint pictures upon the moon
Play dragons with your children
do not let them grow to soon.
For discovery is down the path of youth
their eyes so bright they shine
And they can skip on down the road
with God and his brother Time.
