Place A Fork In My HandShe found out she was dying called her preacher to her side She had planned her funeral carefully and smiled at him with pride She said I've one more request place a fork in my hand The Preacher just looked at her but failed to understand You've eaten at fancy Restaurants kept your fork when you were done awaiting that wonderful dessert knowing the best was yet to come Let my friends and family see me with a fork tucked in my hand and when they ask you why you can make them understand Well that day finally came friends and family all filed by The Preacher just stood there with a tear in his eye When they were finally seated He said I know your asking why there's a fork tucked in her hand as we say our last goodbye She asked me to do this it was her last request to show she had it wonderful here while waiting for the best. The best my friends is Heaven thats what she wanted you to know the fork was to assure you to Heaven she did go by...Debbie/nana5 I got this from a story a friend sent me in an email Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem |
