Homemade Card

He handed me a homemade card
there was no smile upon his face
shoulders slumped he left the room
like he was feeling out of place

I found him staring at my cards
other loved ones had sent to me
he said, hide mine in a drawer
where no one else can see

Before I could even say a word
he turned and fled the room
But I think I know  just the thing
that will end all of his gloom

I placed his card inside a frame
hung a blue ribbon from its side
showing him it takes first place
and fills my heart with pride

I called him back into the room
his eyes now filled with joy
your card means the most you see
because its from my little boy

He said, I love you Mommy
my card it looks just fine
and I whispered, I love you to
your my favorite Valentine
