Poetry From The Heart by Barbara Ann Smith
Smoldering Ashes
Shafts of light shines through the window.
His dark hair and beard glitter a tinge of red.
White, whites, greet me,
I search round brown eyes,
encased in hollows shells.
There's a secret hidden within.
His standoffish detachment plays me.
Who's this man I know nothing about?
We're fevered lovers and a promise waits.
His secrets hide-out in the creases
of our sheets or maybe under the table cloth.
I ache to shake the unknowns out--
expose the hidden mysteries,
cross over the bridge of smoldering ashes,
find the true person sharing my life,
celebrate a rebirth beyond
the nights of steamy love making.
His dark hair and beard glitter a tinge of red.
White, whites, greet me,
I search round brown eyes,
encased in hollows shells.
There's a secret hidden within.
His standoffish detachment plays me.
Who's this man I know nothing about?
We're fevered lovers and a promise waits.
His secrets hide-out in the creases
of our sheets or maybe under the table cloth.
I ache to shake the unknowns out--
expose the hidden mysteries,
cross over the bridge of smoldering ashes,
find the true person sharing my life,
celebrate a rebirth beyond
the nights of steamy love making.
