You Old FossilTo Karen who wanted me to write her a poem for her birthday, but she called me an old fossil first. Happy birthday Karen I know a bonnie lassie She`s getting on you know Today she will be forty-two But it really doesn`t show. This old fossil`s wearing well And has a heart of gold And `though this lassie`s forty-two That`s not so very old. There`s compensation sweetheart When old age comes along You can always use your stick To help you get along But this lassie`s willing She`ll help you if she can This old fossil`s good and kind Of benifit to man. She`s joined the ranks of middle age Her bones creak loud and clear But not a line upon her face That will start next year I wish this fossil all the best And many may she see May age bring her many joys `Cause she`s a friend to me.
