My Fading Rose

Once so beautiful your petals shown
a passionate red with nothing alike its own.
Such sweet a smell, just a blessing in itself.
Holding onto you tight like you're the very best.

Sweet rose,.. stay forever and never flake a leaf.
So precious. Your softness holds it's warmth inside me.
Your stem so strong, holding all of its poise.
Perfection enduring any attempt to cease.

And with all things my precious, even you begin to weep.
Slowly wilting in my hand, I sense a change in you so deep.
Taking a part of my undying will. My rose you are so pure.
Slowly fading inside and out into a beauty not so unsure.

Even blackened. My rose your petals smile, though crisp.
Deepening my love. Never worn into or too thin.
With age your beauty slowly shows washing all the crimson away.
Now dark rose of mine, last me this forever. Growing ever more beautiful as you fade.
