Life Inside Of You

To hide wrapped inside the self
Put on a shelf, invisible to the rest,
to avoid the test of approval
and keeping all perusal of life,
and consequences, in books
Hidden looks at all the world

Wrapped tight in the cloak, like bark
on oak, that's gnarled and rough
so not to invite touch or contact
with the rest, the better
or the best

Dying life inside the shroud
never proud or over endowed
Just pain upon the heart
a stain or blot to mar
or clot the sticky residue
of life inside of you
