God's Scribe Poetry Selections

Appearances Are Fleeting

Appearances dominate their world.
The mirror is their constant companion.
It tells them what they want to hear,
And what they obsess about.
They worry about their hair,
Their clothes, their faces,
Their bodies.
They worry until there is nothing
About them that is right.
And the mirror becomes their enemy.
Then someone tells them what
They wish was true.
And they accept it as truth.
And again, the mirror is their love,
Their joy, Their friend.
It is their secret weapon
That strengthens them and empowers them.
But how strong can they truly be
When their hope is based on something
So dissolvable and destructible?
Why base your world on something
So trivial and unfounded that one
Change destroys its very foundations?
