Poetic-Verses from ATHANASE

What Glistens

"You want to know what I'm doing in the country?..."

Saint-Evremond

In the intoxicating heat of this room
where we talk in hushed tones,
invisibly, subtly,
the living architecture of emotion is rising up!

Can you feel on the air
the poetry of our souls as we breathe together?
In my sadness, how I value
the multicoloured palette of your smiles!

What would I do at this moment with pools of sacred fire,
with philosophies of truth outside time?

My dear lady,
Sing me a song!
Tell me a story!
Read me a poem about your life!

Please, make
the panting trees
outside the crystal window shake!

Revive in my sorry flesh
the old wisdom,
the forgotten grammar of happiness!
