The artist painted with wide sweeping strokes
Using a long handled stiff coarse haired brush
To layer the dark paint textured and rough
Giving it many coats, gentle slow, unrushed
Never minding how evenly it spread because
In those places where the paint was too thin
To complete his thought through master plan
He slipped carefully chosen lights randomly in
To relieve the dark
To please the eye
When it was done
He called it sky
Stood back to switch it on and checked his work
Made sure all its circuits were thoroughly tested
Then pleased with this his first day's work
The artist sat back and contentedly rested.
