This poem is dedicated to two very close friends of mine, Todd and
Tim. I have observed their very close friendship over the years
and have envied it. Their friendship began in their childhood and
endured into their middle age. It has been sorely tested many times and
there has been weeks of silence between them. They have always managed to
patch up the differences and go on the same as before. They are different
in many ways but they most certainly complement each other in a most
charming way.
I have always thought, and said, that friendship is one of the most valued
things, if not the most valued thing, in life. Todd and Tim are a living
example of this.
What Friends!
What Friends
What friends, kindred, the two of them most surely are
Together so close since their long ago childhood days
Whether it's plowing a field or playing in their race car
Alike they are but so very different in yet many ways
What friends, great memories they have as the years roll
They have built a friendship that to brotherhood is akin
There have been times an argument almost took its toll
The feuding won't last long and soon they're close again
Even the vacations spent, a rare closeness by any means
Fantastic fishing trips and the two up at the early Dawn
Familiarity doesn't have to breed contempt it so seems
But sad it will be for the one left when the other is gone
