Flicker
Hope be but a flicker
When you walk the world alone
Surrounded by a strangers face
No place to call your home
No open arms to greet you
No friendly handshake, hello
Just a sidewalk of cold grey
To see as your head hangs low
So many find this resignation
Praying the end finds them quicker
But what else can a poor soul do
When hope be but a flicker
