Tracing A Photograph

I sit down in my chair
My thoughts slip to you
I wonder have you smiled today
Knowing that my love is true

In front of me is a photograph
I reach to it and say
Dear love how I've missed you
Please tell me of your day

I close my eyes and listen
As you softly begin to speak
I'm tracing now your photograph
Trembling fingers on your cheek

I touch your lips so softly
Like I have a hundred times
Thinking of the days we'll spend
When your lips meet with mine

To some this may sound crazy
They may be right at best
Yet this is a way to pull you closer
I just let my heart do the rest

Forgive me love, I miss you
These tears begin to fall at last
I'll just sit here thinking of you
Tracing a photograph
