Spiritual Etiquette

Luke 14:7-11

When you get an invite to attend a feast,
Please do not take the best seat at least;
For a more important man may attend,
That could be a close relative or friend.

Then the party host might have to tell,
The seat is meant for another to dwell;
Then being told to take the lousiest seat,
Where the food is cold before you eat.

But in coming and taking not the best,
Maybe see you as a disadvantaged guest;
And the host moves you up in the line,
To the head table serving the best wine.

You will have honor seen by other eyes,
Considered by them you must be wise;
Whoever starts from the top is put down,
But to start at the worst be given a crown.

That is why some try to start from the top,
But finding themselves in a sudden drop;
Those who are willing to a humble start,
Will be finding a reward within their heart.
