things I have been thinking about

Table

I ate a piece of chocolate,
and it made me think of you;
I looked out my french door,
at the wind,
blowing the fountain water,
and I thought about us.
I looked at the clear speaking moon,
and followed its light,
touching an empty can of soda,
on the table next to me,
which you had bought,
and I wished I was more true,
and there for you.
I smelled the pretty fake flowers,
sitting also on the low top.
Another lovely night this is not.
The only thing I want to do,
is turn on,
and listen to our old love songs,
and tap my fingers,
on the hard wood and feel my heart drop off.
