Primal Ruminations
While in Orbit
Well, with all this starting and stopping,
Garbled cell phone conversations,
Missed calls, fading signals...
It is hard to believe, sometime, that you are just a few towns away.
My words want to reach out and touch you,
Caress you and look into your eyes –
But are caught between small talk and
Just breaking the ice that this cold winter has left behind.
In my mind I am as comfortable talking with you
As if you were at my side always.
In life there are walls and layers,
Distortion and disconnection
And an endless sea of human entities.
In this multi-space-time-dimensional watershed of cascading thought-beings,
Flying debris and carefully laid plans,
Who am I but another shooting star splintering out of sight...
Then I see you in my mind's eye and I am forever in your orbit.
Drawn to the warm glow of your center...
The consuming heat of your sun...
The gravity of your attention.
The inevitable compulsion of my desire.
Garbled cell phone conversations,
Missed calls, fading signals...
It is hard to believe, sometime, that you are just a few towns away.
My words want to reach out and touch you,
Caress you and look into your eyes –
But are caught between small talk and
Just breaking the ice that this cold winter has left behind.
In my mind I am as comfortable talking with you
As if you were at my side always.
In life there are walls and layers,
Distortion and disconnection
And an endless sea of human entities.
In this multi-space-time-dimensional watershed of cascading thought-beings,
Flying debris and carefully laid plans,
Who am I but another shooting star splintering out of sight...
Then I see you in my mind's eye and I am forever in your orbit.
Drawn to the warm glow of your center...
The consuming heat of your sun...
The gravity of your attention.
The inevitable compulsion of my desire.
