Emma At Dinner!Emma sat At dinner With her spider On her head. It dived into Her father's soup And turned A brilliant red! She fished it Out so carefully And gently Dried it down. Her father Was not happy And fumed The fiercest frown! Her snake was Sleeping soundly, Curled right Around her arm. She teased it With a tickle, It lurched out In alarm! Her mother's drink Went crashing Straight onto The floor. Juice and glass Went splashing Out through The open door! Her cockroach Wriggled calmly In the strawberries And cream. When Grandma bent To have a taste, You should have Heard her scream! Her lizard joined Her cockroach And had a Table race. They finished Both together On the nose On Grandpa's face! Inside of Emma's pocket Her small pet rat Lay still, Until her brother Grabbed it And placed it On the window sill! Emma got So angry, She pulled Her brother's hair, And scooped up All his ice cream And flung it Everywhere! Her small snail Smiled so sweetly In all this Tasty mess, As her mother Got a tissue To dab Her dirty dress! Fish and chips And salad Landed on her Sister's hair, When Emma tossed The pepper pot Towards her Without care! When Grandpa Drank his coffee And Grandma Drank her tea, Emma fed Her small green frog, Which was quite A sight to see! Her frog jumped In the salad And hid beneath A leaf. It croaked so Loud and savage, Poor Grandpa Lost his teeth! Emma's sister Wiggled And soon began To squirm, When she reached Inside her jacket And found a Very slimy worm! Emma was So happy, That she could Hardly wait. She held her worm So gently And placed it On her plate! Emma slurped Her ice cream And munched Her sugar bun. She sat there With a cheeky grin, As dinner Was such fun! Joy Weare. 14th April, 2005. Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
