Looking At The Clock…

Looking at the clock on the wall,
Anticipation to the fore,
You have the shakes, you start to sweat,
Looking at the door!

What's the time, when's he home?
Will he be early or late?
Watching the fingers on the clock,
And working yourself into a state!

Pacing to and fro…
Worry on your mind,
How will he be, what will he say,
He'll be as usual - nasty and unkind!

Looking out of the window…
Hearing a car stop outside,
You begin to panic, feeling scared,
You want to run and hide!

But there's nowhere to go,
No one to help you in your plight,
So you stay and take the abuse lashed out,
Every day and every night!

Panic takes over your mind
Your body convulses in fear,
Pacing and pacing and watching the door,
For the times arrived, he'll soon be here!

Then key in the door jolts you to reality,
You anticipate his mood,
It's bad and not good as usual,
His language and anger so crude!

You try to raise a smile,
Hiding what you feel,
But it's getting harder every day,
And your heart hardens like steel!

You look at him with contempt,
Repulsion to the fore,
What to do, where to go,
Because you cant take any more!

Escape into oblivion inside your mind,
Where you live a fantasy life,
Fear and pain no more…
No more the brow beaten wife!

Escape, run and hide…
Make a life, anew…
We are worth more than what they think,
You're entitled to peace - yes you!

No More Pain Maggie – No More Abuse!
