FREEDOMIn the still of the night I sense the presence of the bird I have never seen When this lonesome bird takes flight I feel a song I cannot hear A pleasing pitch so far yet so near It flies only after dark I imagine it's silhouette Soaring through the sky With such grace it makes me long For peaceful things like a child's hug Or my favorite song When this elusive bird takes flight A flood opens up within me Someday soon I may be free Who knows I may even grow Dark Spain I started writing this poem when I was a child in Belize City, CA. In the late 1960's. This poem has been revised hundreds of times. I hope to write a final version at some point.(1999) NOTE: This was my son Lacey Williams Jr.'s favorite poem before his death so this will be The Final Version of My baby's favorite poem.
