Absent Minded

Under his rock

it was true
the sky was blue
there was proof
and he was amused
he wouldn't have believed her
the stupid fool
he never believed her
but what can you do?
it made no sense either
the things that he would do
he told him
and he went and put on his shoes.
He looked up and there it was true
he had heard about such things but only in school
and they all had their own little rules
but he forgot and they called him a fool.

It was always dark down there
when there was no air
nothing but despair
and no one seemed to care
they survived and that was their prayer
but all he wanted was out of that lair
so he could see what was that went on outside of there
he was banished i know this i swear
it wasn't right he was an inside player
he never learned how to play fair
and so when it happened the dream turned to a bigger nightmare

with only so little they never gave up,
he would go on to fill his tin cup
and she would bask in the sun above
who knew the outsider would fall in love
but there was never enough
never enough
and that's when he got abrupt

He had never seen the son
and thats where his story had begun
in the darkness of being no one
to climb to the surface to find someone
the people all said it was no fun
he needed to be surrounded by one
she had a gun
but kept it from everyone
until the day would come
she would climb down that hole and find the other one

There was no stopping it
he wouldn't have heard it anyway
The son was out and the sky was blue
and he didn't believe a word anymore of what she had to say
he crawled out from a rock
and they were in love until she avenged his life
and now he thinks his thought thinking about what to think of thinking
and philosophies the turn of a brand new century.
It never made any sense to either of the worlds
how it had come to pass
were crawling out to falling love
and heavens gates were closing
one took up writing like life
and this is his poetry.
