No Man Is An Island

They say no man is an Island
but I am not a man
just a woman alone filled with heartache
for my life I know not the plan

I've tried to satisfy others
giving up needs of my own
now I'm standing here broken hearted
empty and so very alone

They say no man is an Island
but I am not a man
and I bare the isolation around me
as only a woman can

I've tried just standing firmly
with both feet on the ground
I've battled each new storm arising
but always a new one I've found

They say no man is an Island
but I am not a man
I can't remember any longer
even where the heartache began

But I keep right on striving
just to make each new day through
they say no man is an Island
oh how I wish I were you.
