Words of Life, Love and Praise

Once Again

Words hang in my throat
Tears flow like a torrid rain,
Your anger rips flesh from the bone,
Never again shall I be the same…
Those utterances as yet still haunt me
And I fear I cannot forget,
Your harsh verbal assault upon me
For wretched things someone else did.
These many things she did to you,
So cold-blooded, unfair and unkind,
Are brought to rest upon my shoulders
When I fail to tow your tight line…
The immense love I have for you
Becoming so battered and bruised -
My heart breaking over and over again,
With your barrage of verbal abuse.
A torturing darkness rests over you
With a profound pain I hope to help mend,
So you may one day look upon me
And find the sun finally shining once again.
