Mountains
Old Mountain
Ravaged and savaged,
Pounded and pierced,
Creased and wrinkled,
Frowns, harsh and fierce!
Young Mountain
Soft, white, untouched,
Virginal, pure,
Laughing in sunshine,
Perky and sure!
Rich Mountain
Velveted emerald,
Clear, diamond, fine,
Rich thickest carpet,
Style for all time!
Poor Mountain
Uneven hollows,
Rocky and raw,
Balding in places,
Looking unsure!
Sad Mountain
Washed wet with crying,
Shadowed and dark,
Shrouded in mystery,
Sadness so stark!
Rude Mountain
Nakedly bold,
Exposing all parts,
Rocks, shiny white
From the end to the start!
Happy Mountain
Sparkles in sunlight,
Shimmer in style,
Bright colour contrast,
Wide warming smile!
Angry Mountain
Craggy shadows
From the furrows
In the frowning
Mountain peak,
Echoes calling
Constant wearing,
Wind and water,
Snow and sleet!
Depressed Mountain
Overall sameness,
Not a touch of green,
Dull, dry tufts,
Boulders screaming mean!
Transformed Mountain.
Lost all it's growth,
So bare and so cold,
Transplant in neat rows,
Regrowth, green and bold!
Crying Mountain
Emerald mountain,
Crystal weeps,
Shrouded soft in fear,
Foreground arms
Reach out in green,
To wipe away the tears!
Mystic Mountain
Mystic mountain,
Quietly brooding,
Depth of wisdom
Shadowed thought!
Past and present
All condensing,
Focus feeling,
Meaning sought!
Reflective Mountain.
Looking down,
I still see you,
Smiling sparkle
In the lake.
Double vision,
Double pleasure,
Double beauty
To partake!
Bridal Mountain
Bridal mountain,
Pure white veil,
Draped in waiting
By the aisle!
Trees in waiting,
Watch and wave,
As the mountain
Softly smiles!
Joy Weare.
30th April, 2005.
