Surely Goodness and Mercy
Surely goodness and mercy shall
"Follow" me
All the days of my life...
Then why "Oh man of the cloth"
Does sorrow and pain, lay
In your wake?
You shout! it is the enemy,
That has wrought mans
Pitiful state.
Caring not for the beggar,
Lyeing at your gate.
You say you pray for all
Of the lost,
You fast faithfully,
Tithe all of your gain.
Yet left in your path,
Is heartache and shame.
You've devoured widows
Houses,
With a conscience thats
Seared.
You measure man's worth,
By what he puts in your
Plate.
You prophesy health, wealth,
Glory and fame
You say just claim it!
And it will come to pass.
And if it does not,
Then it's faith that you
lack.
You've shaken their dust,
Off of your shiny shoes.
Checking the time
On your rolex watch,
Smoothing the wrinkles
From your designer suit.
Thinking yourself wise,
You've become but a fool.
Seeking accolades
From adoring fans,
Searching for praise
Wherever you can.
Proclaiming to be
A sanctified man, set
Apart
I wonder what God see's
When he looks in your
Heart?
Professing a love
You do not possess,
While tickling the ears
Of the upper crust crowd,
I wonder what lyes under
Your shroud?
Having scale covered eyes
And stopped up ears,
That have long since
Not heard,
The beggar man's cries.
Now alas it's to late!
The beggar lays dead,
At the foot of your gate...
And I will dwell in the
House of the LORD, forever?
