Tell Me True…

Tell me true what you think of me!
Am I all that you perceive me to be?
Do I hide behind a mask false and shallow?
And do I hide my hurt, squashed like mallow?

Is this face that you see, the real McCoy?
Or is it just a ruse another ploy!
Do I hide my pain and hurt from the world?
Do I let it show, let my pain unfurled!

Do you know who I am? Can you see me?
Would you know if there's falseness in what you see?
My life of trials is all but on show…
As down many a harsh road I'd go!

I try to hide it and bury the pain inside…
But I am told I can't run, can't hide!
For years on end I hid my painful life,
All the tears I shed, the heartache and strife!

But now I am told it wasn't hidden at all well,
For they saw the real McCoy, they could tell!
In hindsight I guess you can't hide it all,
And the truth is out, when you take a fall!

Then they tell you they knew it all along,
That my life was sad, and oh, so wrong!
And while I stayed to see the job through,
They knew I would do what it was I had to do!

And time went by; it was to no avail,
For I lived my life like I was in jail!
My jailer, the one who was supposed to care,
He didn't even know that I was there!

So time went by, and the day finally came,
That I would run, and my life reclaim!
I ran and ran as fast as I could,
Into the light, as only I should!

I never looked back, didn't even dare,
For most I would see would just be sadness there!
So I marched on forward into the sun,
Got back my life, yes, once again I won!

So tell me true, what do you see in me?
What I am and all I seem to be?
For this I tell you, what you see here,
Is the real McCoy…my path is clear!

I left behind a whole world of pain,
Never to be repeated, not ever again!
This is the face, no mask, but the real me!
What you get, is simply, what you see!

Me!

Damn Right!!!
