Oh Blimey, It's the Dreaded Age Thing…!

He was a little star you know,
Quiet and not robust,
Always the little gent he was,
And was always full of trust!

But then he hit 15 years old,
And blimey what a shock!
He turned into a flippin' monster!
I often chased him round the block!

He got cheeky - as lads do…
At that awful, nasty age!
Because within a split second…
He would fly off into a rage!

He would stand before me,
Towering above…
And the spark within his eyes,
Sure the hell wasn't love!

I caught him smoking one night,
Well, actually, not literally…
But he stunk of it, and mark my words,
He got the riot act off me!

He denied it of course!
But trust me - I am stubborn stock…
And as he sat and denied it…!
He got quite a shock!

Cos he stood up before me,
And he was being the ‘big hard knock!'
But it really didn't last long,
Cos he soon got a shock!

I told him he thought he was big and tough!
‘Yes, I am!' He roared at me with a yell!
So I said, ‘well, you're not that big…
Cos you're scared to admit to smoking and tell!'

As tough as he thought he was,
He looked down at me and said…
‘Ok, yes, I've been smoking!'
‘Well blimey,' I thought, ‘he's dead!!!'

Well I went absolutely nuts,
And belted him hard and fast,
And just like that, he was up the stairs,
In one hell of a very short blast!

Ran like hell he did…
But I went up after him,
Trust me, on a battle of will's…
Against me, no-one can win!

Yes I was a tough mum,
But it was for their own good!
Cos now, many years later,
I've got 3 fantastic kids…as I should!

It's easy to let them be ruffians,
But harder to keep them on track!
Well it wasn't going to happen to mine!
For the wall was against ‘their' back!

I was a really strict mum,
Yes, I am the first to agree,
But I wanted them to be respectful,
So I could be as proud as I could be!

For that was the battle of battles,
And it lasted for months on end,
But after all was said and done,
Peace became my friend.

And now, many years later…!
I really have to say…
Dave actually thanked me…
For being as hard on him that way!

I said it's nice he realized…!
What it was all about…
He said; ‘Mum, if you hadn't been hard on me!'
I would now be a lout!

But instead he's got a great job,
Sad to say, I'm not allowed to tell…
But all I will say is this…
He's got me as proud as hell…!!!

Way To Go Dave!
