Night Things

Elusive but stronger as I feel and taste the air
Moving oh so slowly pinpointing the exact where
Closer closer I know I'm getting oh so near
To the emanating source of strong real fear
A lost and tired person wandering in the night
Their mix of emotions just so very nearly right
The meeting is made and I can start the drain
Taking all my sustenance from their very pain
Feeding very deeply but not at any length
I do not wish to take all their strength
When I leave it will just seem
Like a kiss made in a dream
Not a capture and a brief sting
From a hungry midnight thing
Constantly searching, needing to find
Bodies that harbour pain troubled minds
