Poetry From The Heart by Barbara Ann Smith
Butterfly
A Children's Poem
Butterfly
I watch a tiny butterfly,
dipping to and fro,
yellow wings trimmed in black,
a nose that didn't show.
It buzzes around the flowers,
finally lands upon my cheek,
it flutters its tiny wings on my eyelids--
I didn't even blink!
It sat there for awhile,
as though it was watching me,
hoping I would strike up a conversation,
maybe, to see if it could fly free.
I stood there in silence,
not wanting it to leave,
we bonded in a moment,
it flew -- but then flew back to me.
