Musings by The Poet Loriet
The Caregiver's Burden
Blood gushes
through your sea of life.
You shake and tremble~
embarassed
and feeling alone.
I know you would rather
be anywhere but here.
I clean and bathe you
gently,
lingering in the room,
hoping you'll share your pain...
and,
slowly,
you do.
By the time I leave,
you manage a weak smile,
thanking me
for helping make the best
of a bad experience.
I walk very quickly
to the women's bathroom,
lock the door,
and let myself cry.
