Dancing like a fairy light.Flitting here and there, feeling tired and blue, Running about and oh so cold, he didn't know what to do! Up and down the garden, I see him here and there, Giggling away, humming too, like he didn't have a care! He flits in and out of the bushes, a giggling as he goes, He dances like a fairy light, on his tippy-toes! He has does a funny little jig, darting back and forth is he, I wonder what he's doing, but its dark and I can't see. I know he's up to something because he's been here all night, Flitting around my garden, dancing like a fairy light! I first noticed him this night, as I was looking at the sky, I had been unnerved, and I didn't quite know why! I thought I heard a rustle, in the bush below my room…! I tried to see what I could see, Using the light of the moon! I couldn't see anything at first, so I thought it was all a dream, Then I heard humming, I got a fright and did almost scream! But I didn't, I say and watched…until I espied a little elf, Running around quite fast, almost bumping into himself! So tonight I sat in the darkness, to see what I could see, And dancing like a fairy light was the elf, smiling up at me! He'd seen me, knew I was there, he'd been watching me too, So I shouted down to this little elf, ‘Mr Elf what is it you do?' He smiled at me And said; ‘Come on, come down here!' So I went downstairs to join him, and suddenly all was clear! He wasn't on his own, he'd set toadstools all about, Then He shouted to all the elf's; ‘Come on, come on out!' Out they came, and oh what fun, they partied all night long, and giggling and dancing, and then often bursting into song! Next morning I went to where the party had been… And see what was left, but there was nothing to be seen! I couldn't understand it, and as I tip-toed all around, There was no sign of anything, not a toadstool to be found. I thought I must have dreamt it, and as I went back up to bed, I heard a little whisper, and this is what was said; ‘Yes, it was real, but you have to think it's a dream,' ‘We can't ever let it known, that the elf's had ever been!' Now as I fell asleep again…curled up as cozy as could be, Once in slumber, I dreamt of elf's, dancing all around me! Was it real, or was it a dream? Who knows!
