Johnny Cash 1932 - 2003

He latterly wore a creased face:
He seemed to just amble along,
But you could feel his passion
In his every single song.
I first heard him in the fifties
When I was just in my teens
And we've sung along together
All those long years in between.

He's brought me lots of laughter.
He's brought me tears of grief,
That dear passionate man
Who seemed to live our beliefs;
And he sang for the poor,
He gave the prisoners a voice,
Told me you can make it boy.
But you have to make the choice.

I can't believe it's nearly two years
Since he went to his promised land;
But up there in hillbilly heaven now
There's  one hell of a country band.
Lead singer fronts man
Or just standing quietly at the back
Music has integrity with
Johnny Cash the Man in Black
