Musings by The Poet Loriet
First Tooth
Startled,
she runs her tongue over her teeth.
"I can turn it sideways!,"
she gushes excitedly...
two bites of an apple,
bloody kleenex hanging from her mouth,
she runs around spreading the news.
We celebrate in Memaw and Pepaw's hot tub.
Driving home,
in the dark of night,
as airplane lights flash in the sky,
she swears she sees the tooth fairy!
As she drifts off to sleep,
golden coins
appear under her pillow like magic!
We awaken
to squeals of delight...
another rite of passage
made magic
for a starry-eyed child!
