Dragon Lord

Tayisha walks the golden path
Purple veil upon her head
Covering all her silk green hair
A single curl on her forehead
She has on a bluish blouse
With a brown scarf at her waist
Her golden pants shine in the sun
She, simply put, has her own taste
A pinkish cape flows down her back
And tiny red boots can be seen
As she is striding down the path
She has a look of “I am Queen”
Tayisha loves to roam around
To see the children at their play
She never has a guard around
To chase the children all away
A maiden fair who loves to go
Out in the wilds to see
The deer and foxes up real close
They never ever flee
For she has such a lovely smile
That beckons one and all
Even all the older ones
Are smitten and they fall
In love with sweet Tayisha as
She walks her golden path
No one ever fears her for
She never shows her wrath
The calm exterior she shows
Can be broken through
By people who are mean and cruel
To people that she knew
One Day she went a wondering
Beneath a sky so blue
She walked her path up higher
Than she ever even knew
She saw the purple mountains
And the grass of palest green
She came to such a lonely spot
Our lovely hidden Queen
There were large rocks all around
So she chose one for a perch
She wanted so to stay right here
Leave them in the lurch
She was tired of signing things
And making big decisions
She wished she was a simple maid
Who didn't have great visions
A shadow flew close overhead
He settled himself down
He was Dragon through and through
A haughty Bronze with frown
He said, “Aren't you afraid of me,
You tiny little thing –
I could simply eat you up
Oh, do you have a ring?”
“Do you wear a necklace that
Is hidden in your clothes
Are there bracelets on your wrist
I would like one of those
Why are you so far away
From your sweet tiny town
Don't you know these are the hills
Where I put my feet down”
Tayisha giggled merrily
“Sir, don't you know your Queen
She is the bravest in the land
To her you can't be mean
You have to bow, get on your knees
And plead your loyalty
I'll tap you right here with my sword
So you will faithful be”
“Oh no you don't, you tiny thing
No swords, no bows no taps
I'm going to fly away right now
I think I see a trap”
“Sir, please don't go, you rattled me
Into my Queenly guise
I won't expect for you to kneel
When I am in disguise”
“I'd rather stay and talk all night
But now it's time to go
Let's meet here earlier next time
At 3:00 on the morrow
I will bring some tasty treats
For you to sup upon
I'll bring to you some royal jewels
We'll meet here in the sun”
The Dragon rose into the sky
He watched the girl below
He flew so high above her head
He thought she'd never know
He followed her right to the gate
And when he looked to see
There was one who did kneel down
Upon his bended knee
The Dragon watched as she changed
Into the Royal Queen
He'd really lost his heart that day
To beauty rarely seen
“Soft heart has she, that the tiny one
But Royal she must be
So when she does come back again
I will bend on my knee”
“If she takes her tiny sword
And taps me on the head
Perhaps I'll be made whole again
Not live in so much dread
Of all the knights throughout the land
Who come in search of me
They come to try to take my heart
But I think now I'm free”
Tayisha's day was rather full
But still she slipped away
They all thought that she'd gone down
To watch the children play
She ran right back into the hills
To meet her dragon friend
She brought treats and so much gold
As she ran round the bend
Her dragon friend was sitting there
He looked a little grim
“I had to fight another knight
What should I do with him”
The knight was seated on the ground
Close to the dragon's paw
Both of them had horrid wounds
That looked a little raw
“If he promises to stay away
And not come to you here
Would you simply let him go
You wouldn't have to fear
You are off limits to all knights
I proclaim it as my right
You are a special friend to me
Who'll come to me at night”
“If you kneel and bend your head
I'll tap you with my knife
I'll gently kiss you on the cheek
There will be no more strife
You'll come to live within the walls
Of my large estate
The Castle has a lot of room
For one like you so great”
The Dragon knelt upon his knees
And looked into her eyes
The knight looked on he was afraid
That she'd get the surprise
But as he watched them from the ground
He saw a magic rare
When Queen kissed Dragon on the cheek
He was no longer there
In his place knelt royalty
A man with purple robes
He had a wand and crystal staff
The dragons came in droves
A Green, a Purple, and a Blue
A Brown and Bronze flew in
This was their Lord and Master
He was their only friend
“Torbrith is my name dear one
I'm prince and wizard born
These dragons round us are my friends
While I was so forlorn
I hope your promise still is true
And that they safe will be
I'm kneeling with my heart in hand
What do you see in me”
Tayisha took a little breath
And then she took one more
“There certainly are some dragons here
There must be quite a score
That couldn't land here in this spot
They're flying overhead
I see them, they're such tiny dots
I meant just what I said”
“You must come back to town with me
Sir Torbrith, if you please
I'd like to give a Royal ball
Oh I am one who sees
Great visions of a kingdom where
The knights and dragons play
The dragons guard the castle keep
And fly folks round all day”
“The children must be taught to see
That dragon folk are rare
They're rather large and rather fierce
With scales instead of hair
We need a person who will be
The leader for us all
To guide us into gentler ways
That's why I want this ball”
“Oh Torbrith with your purple eyes
Have been much on my mind
I saw that you watched me home
It was so very kind
Spread out these jewels to all those here
To take back to their lair
Tell them to please remember me
The Queen with silk green hair”
“And you, Sir Knight, you have a task
To travel round the land
Give the message to one and all
About the Ball that's grand
The Knights must bring their kids and wives
No one must be left out
Not even that Dark Knight so mean
You must give him a shout”
“There's going to be some changes made
We'll have a King and Queen
This Ball will gather everyone
So that we can be seen
To work together from now on
To keep the dragons safe
But they must help to watch our backs
We all must just have faith”
“Now let us fly on Dragon wings
Back to the castle fair
I'll ride with you upon the back
Of the Bronze if we dare
The Dragon looked up in surprise

She gently scratched behind his ear

To town on Dragon back
All eyes were turned to look at them
And mouths were rather slack
No one lifted up a hand
In anger or surprise
For they could see the love that shone

There will be more that will be told
About this bright young pair
But let us leave them at the gate
The Dragon says, “Beware”
They need to learn so very much
They need to be alone
For they're in love and they will share
